Gray 23J WU

Gray #23J, a complete handset paystation. Like an antique cradle telephone it connects to a subset (ringer box). The operation is completely under the control of the operator. Customers would use this phone to contact a Western Union operator in order to send a telegram. The operator would ask for payment and listen to the coins being dropped. Since it is a handset telephone a signal transmitter is mounted to the back plate. View my article Gray 23J Coin Collector
